Job Description

The Field-Recruiter is responsible for pre-screening, interviewing and qualifying applicants who meet all DOT and company hiring standards/criteria for over-the-road driving positions.

Driver retention is crucial to the success of our business. As a Field-Recruiter you will be responsible for managing the candidate experience by creating a positive first impression and relationship with new drivers. This position will also work towards growing a strong talent pipeline.

  • Travel to trucking schools to build lasting relations in order to attract and recruit non experienced drivers.
  • Pre-screen drivers via phone and/or email, using Tenstreet as our Applicant Tracking System, to verify that they meet the minimum hiring criteria.
  • Informs potential applicants about equipment, operations, benefits, pay, bonus and tuition reimbursement programs.
  • Prepare applications to be reviewed by Terminal Managers for approval and set up interviews.
  • Work closely with the Recruiting Coordinator to obtain MVR, PSP, and Hire Right background checks.
  • Coordinate pre-employment drug screen and DOT physical prior to orientation.
  • Extend offer letters to qualified candidates and schedule them for orientation.
  • Support recruiting goals and retention efforts.
  • Assists the recruiting department with various research projects and/or special projects.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Education: Associates or Bachelor’s in Business Administration or related field preferred.

Experience: One to three years of successful transportation recruiting preferred, but not required.

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with emphasis on utilizing Excel functions. Ability to be productive in a Microsoft Windows environment and effectively use internet web based tools for business. Capable of learning new computer programs to suit the job requirements.

Certificates & Licenses: Class –A Commercial Driver License {CDL –A} issued by the State of residence preferred, but not required.

Knowledge Requirements

Retain a fundamental understanding of the DOT/HOS/FMCSA/OSHA rules and regulations pertinent to the role. Proficient with hiring laws and processes.
